School Council

Our School Council is facilitated by Mrs Whorrod.

It meets every two weeks and is made up of two class representatives from Year R to Year 4. These change termly.  The children are elected by their class and wear their School Council Badges with pride.  The School Council gives the children a voice so that they are able to play a part in making decisions on certain aspects of school life.

Each term the councillors organise a fund raising event for the whole school.  After discussion with their classes they decide what the money raised will be spent on. They also organise the fund raising for a national charity such as Children In Need or Comic Relief as well as looking to support a local charity.  They also decide what the termly House competitions will be.  The meetings are an opportunity for the children to bring any matters that are causing the children concern to the attention of the staff.

Every other meeting the children consider Eco initiatives.  Last year the children obtained the Bronze Eco Award, signifying amongst other things that we all now compost our snack waste, recycle paper and card and have Eco monitors to ensure lights are turned off and radiators are turned down before windows are opened.
