The school day and other key information
At Derwent Primary the school we have recently introduced staggered drop off and collection times for each class.
Parent drop off is from 8.45-8.55 on the main playground. All teachers will be out on the main playground from 8.45 to welcome their classes.
Collection times are below and again are from the main playground.
Caterpillars - 3.20pm-3.25pm
Hedgehogs and Squirrels - 3.25pm - 3.30pm
Hares - 3.15pm-3.20pm
Rabbits - 3.20pm-3.25pm
Owls - 3.25pm-3.30pm
Mice - 3.15pm-3.20pm
Foxes - 3.20pm - 3.25pm
Otters - 3.25pm-3.30pm
Hawks - 3.25pm-3.30pm
Children who arrive after this time must be signed in at the main office.
This means that the typical school week is 32.5 hours.
Morning break is at 10:40 until 11:00 for Years 1 to 6, with Pre-School and Reception having separate snack breaks.
Lunchtime is staggered for different classes. It starts at:
- 11:45 for Hedgehogs and Squirrels classes (Reception)
- 11:50 for Caterpillars class (Pre-School class)
- 12:00 for the rest of the school.
Children come in from lunch at 1pm (except Pre-school whose lunchtime ends at 12:20pm).
We have a school newsletter that is published each week on a Friday via ParentMail, Class Dojo and the school website and contains lots of information about Derwent including upcoming events.
Every Friday the children can bring in 20p to buy tuck at playtime.
We use ParentMail and Class Dojo as a school to aid communication. These apps can be downloaded to your mobile phone free of charge and help parents keep up-to-date with the school day and any important information.
